Welcome to Season 2013

This is the homepage for our the Orange & District Football Association

There is some interest in how many people visit this site so here is a counter which started on April 11th, 2006.

We have developed an ODFA page. While I don't have a Facebook account, it is hoped that clubs will be able to post information there, particularly about registrations. We will also try to post here about wet weather information.

Rep Information for 2013

It is hoped that we will have a rep information section. It is still in progress but hopefully will be ready soon.

2013 Season

I would like to apologise for the issues from the first week. I was in Sydney with my son who was having his third bout of surgery for the year and had to rush to get things done. A big thank you to everyone who did some work while I was gone, especially Ian Cole for organising some games that were needed. Thanks for your patience and hopefully things will be smoother.

I have updated the U7 draw with some changes and will be changing most of the other non-competitive draws ASAP to catch up with changes or omissions.

2013 Season - Match Cards

We often have lots of problems with the Match Cards. I often get match cards have with an incorrect result entered. The coaches are supposed to sign the MC only after they have verified the details on the card.

Secondly there are often far too many that are missing details which makes the process much harder. Around one third of the cards have missing information but the major ones are when there are no team names, Age Group or date. I can usually find the match by looking at the names of players that I recognise but this is very frustrating.

It may not seem like a big issue during a game on Saturday but when they are filled out correctly, it makes it much smoother from my end and your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Player & spectator behaviour

THis is obviously a hot topic at this point of time in Orange. We are currently looking at ways to address some of the issues we have had in the past which means we are losing quite a few referees each year as they are tired of being abused. THe refereees association have made a point of regularly having sessions with their members to make sure they are up to date and always looking to improve. As an association, we are asking teams to be aware of the behaviour of their players and spectators. Action will be taken for serious or persistent incidents. There should be officials at each ground with identifying jackets so please make them aware of any issues that you notice during games.

No smoking at Brabham

Jack Brabham Park has been declared a no smoking zone. Anyone who is found smoking at Brabham will be asked to stop or leave. I believe the carparks around Brabham are included in the no smoking zone.

Brabham Map

I have updated the map of Brabham. and have also done a guide to Waratahs fields. They are a bit rough but hopefully they make sense.

I am also hoping to follow up on a suggestion with more contact details for the association. In the mean time people can either contact me via email or tha Association postal address is PO Box 1273, Orange 2800.

Small Sided Games

Hopefully everyone is aware that Football Australia has introduced small sided games for Under 6s to 9s. The Mini-Soccer Rules link on the left has the rules for the new games. This year the U6s & U7s play 4v4 or 5v5 on a 20m x 30m field. U8s & U9s will play 7v7 with a goalkeeperon a 30m x 40m field.

The booklet from FFA is avaialble to download fromhttp://www.footballnsw.com.au/index.php?id=217.

There is also a study done on small sided games in Scotland. Click on the link to see the study.

Tournaments I would like to add details of other competitions on this website. For example the Bathurst 7-a-side is always on the middle weekend of the July school holidays. There is a tournament in Cumnock on a Sunday in June . Other towns also hold carnivals and hopefully I can keep you up to date with details here.

I am quite happy to accept ideas for what we should have on this page. If clubs want to put a page on here then let me know. I won't have time to do up all the pages but will be more than happy to help you to do it. It is then easy for me to post it onto the website. If you have any ideas you can email me (Ewan Powell) at

People might be interested in visiting our neighbours Bathurst at their website. I would appreciate it if there aren't too many comments on how much more professional their website is. Thanks to Casey Benson for tips on website design.
